Corneal Cross-Linking

The normally round cornea bulges outward in people with keratoconus or with a condition called ectasia after refractive surgery. A treatment called corneal cross-linking may help.

Corneal cross-linking uses eye drops and UV light to strengthen the cornea’s collagen fibers. It usually stops the cornea from growing more out of shape. Most side effects are temporary and include blurry vision and light sensitivity. Rarely, corneal cross-linking can lead to loss of vision.

If you have any questions about your eyes or your vision, speak with your ophthalmologist. They are committed to protecting your sight.
